About Local School
Wallingford , Connecticut is situated in the beautiful Quinnipiac River Valley . The town was once known for its Silver and Britannia manufacturing businesses, but is now known for manufacturing, shipping and technology businesses. Quiet family neighborhoods are well-situated away from the industrial and business parks. The public school system is excellent with special programs for the gifted as well as adult education classes; the prestigious college preparatory school Choate-Rosemary Hall is also located in town.

| Wallingford is a picturesque river valley town bordered by stunning highlands to the west and rugged rocky ridges to the east. Established as a small farming community in 1670, the town is now home to an impressive family of manufacturers that employ many of the local residents. Steel, hardware and plastics are among the products made in Wallingford.The town's economic success and vibrant employment environment has lead to an active market for new home construction. Neighborhoods are carefully planned and zoned to maintain the rural/suburban charm of residential areas. Land parcels are fairly large and architectural styles vary from historic colonials and striking Victorians to more contemporary designs and attractive condominiums.Wallingford's small downtown area features a number of unique historic buildings. The Wallingford Historic Trust has its offices in a remarkable 1672 saltbox house filled with antiques called the Nehemiah Royce House. Concerned benefactors Helen and Lucy Royce saved it from demolition in 1924. Residents enjoy a wide variety of recreational opportunities including playgrounds and over 250 acres of parks. There are municipal indoor and outdoor swimming pools, ball fields, tennis courts and a selection of private golf courses. Nature enthusiasts can take advantage of the great outdoors with hiking and nature study along the Mattabasett Trail. The Wallingford Land Trust is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of Wallingford's natural countryside.The public school system offers a balanced curriculum for college and vocational students, as well as special programs for the disabled and evening classes for adults. Wallingford is home to the well-known college prep school, Choate-Rosemary Hall. |
