Seymour , Connecticut is one of the beautiful rural communities of the lower Naugatuck Valley . A residential community built around a small downtown area known as Humphreyville; originally the first planned factory community in the United States . Residents enjoy superb town facilities including a golf course, ball fields and tennis courts as well as the use of Lake Housatonic and Osbornedale State Park . The school system provides college preparatory, vocational training tracks and an adult education program. Seymour contains the very first planned factory community in the United States. Humphreyville, named for it's founder David Humphreys, is now a charming little downtown area in Seymour with lots of antique shops and businesses. One of the highlights of the downtown area is The Seymour Antiques Company, a 10,000 square foot showroom featuring the wares of over 70 different antiques dealers. There is also a great little art deco movie theatre called "The Strand".

Most of Seymour is wooded countryside with open farmlands and small quiet neighborhoods. A variety of housing opportunities include traditional and contemporary single-family homes, charming farmhouses and a selection of condominium complexes and rental apartments.

Residents enjoy the wonderful natural resources in Seymour at the Osbornedale State Park and Lake Housatonic. There is ample opportunity for swimming, boating and hiking. Seymour supports three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. All are located within the town.
