Bethany is predominantly a town of professionals who commute daily to New Haven, Hartford, Fairfield, Milford and other major centers of business and commerce accessible via interstate highways 84, 95 and Route 15. The town has a preserved New England country charm that make it an ideal place for family living.

In it's early days, Bethany was a sparsely populated village devoted to farming. A small segment of the town's populace still work as farmers and other agricultural professions. Many delightful old farmhouses updated with many contemporary amenities adorn the wooded lots and wide-open spaces in this small town. Careful planning and zoning has instituted a 1.5-acre lot minimum for new home construction.

The town supports it's own elementary and junior high schools. High school students attend classes in nearby Woodbridge. Students can work towards college placement with a fine preparatory program that features a special focus on foreign languages, computer programming and the arts. Special education classes for the handicapped are also available.
